Failed to download `melpa' archive. I'm using Emacs 24.5.1 in the -nw mode. First of all run emacs with --debug-init from your terminal and check if complains about being unable to verify the elpa archive due to an invalid key. If that is the case, copy the public key displayed to you. I ran into this problem because the GPG keys used by the ELPA package manager to verify authenticity of packages downloaded from the GNU ELPA archive have a limited validity in time failed to download 'gnu' archive Keep getting this along with a list of failed package installs and this message is output at the start which is a new addition from my last emacs rig, it's a new machine i'm installing onto: @s-kostyaev seeing the same issue, too. Can't get the debugger to kick in, but have these messages: Contacting host: melpa.org:80 Failed to download `melpa' archive. No idea what the archive is supposed to look like - but this is showing up empty?
